François Ravaillac, a fanatic, assassinates Henry IV of France,
who is succeeded by Louis XIII, then aged 9 (-1643), with Marie'de'
Medici, the Queen Mother, as Regent (-1617). Concino Concini, her
favourite, takes over direction of affairs from the Duke of Sully
(who resigns his posts, Jan. 26th, 1611) and is created Marquis
d'Ancre.
