Patua Gan is a genre of folk music performance given with the help of a scroll painting common to many parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India. Scroll painting is one of the traditional art forms on canvas in South Asia, where a series of folk stories based on myths and legends are painted by patua [rural canvas painters]. Narrating stories through a series of paintings on palm leaves, parchment papers, or canvas, as well as on terracotta plaques and wooden planks has been practiced in Bangladesh and West Bengal since the 2nd century BCE.
