In the British general election, the Liberals win 273 seats, Irish Home Rulers win 81, and the recently established Labour Party 1 seat, while among their more right-wing opponents the Conservatives win 269, and the Liberal Unionists 46, producing a hung parliament with no clear victor. Lord Salisbury, the Conservative Prime Minister, waits for Parliament's re-assembly before resigning his position.
