British Prime Minister Disraeli, Lord Beaconsfield, appeals to the electorate on the issue of Irish Home Rule. He is aware that votes cast for the Home Rule Party might threaten the Conservatives hold on government, and in the ensuing general election, they do gain a sizeable portion of the vote. However, the most notable result is the landslide victory for Gladstone's Liberal Party, which takes power.
