Duchesse de Berry, a leading Legitimist conspirator in France, is arrested. The Legitimists believed in the strict application of the Salic Law in determining the succession to the French throne, and as such the supported the senior branch of the Bourbon dynasty which had been overthrown in the July Revolution of 1830.
