In February, the Belgian National Congress had eleted Louis, Duc de Nemours, second son of the French king Louis Philippe, as King. However, this was rejected by Louis Philippe himself to prevent outcry in Britain, and now the Congress gives the kingship to Leopold of Saxe-Coburg.
