Frederick the Great of Prussia learns of the secret articles of the Russo-Austrian treaty of June 1746, and responds angrily to the discovery. Britain refuses to support Russia with military aid, which arguably prevents the incident from leading to a war. France informs Britain that if Prussia is attacked, she will be bound, under the treaty of June 1741, to aid Frederick the Great in his cause.
