Frederick II of Prussia defeats Maria Theresa's Habsburg forces at the Battle of Mollwitz and conquers Silesia. The outcome of the battle is by no means certain, since during the course of the fighting, his cavalry is routed and he flees, but his infantry manages to defeat the Austrians.
