The Russian and Ottoman Empires sign the Treaty of Constantinople, dividing Persian territories between them. The intervention of France averts a war over this issue, producing a treaty that gives lands east of the Rivers Kurosh and Aras to Russia, and lands west of this point to the Ottomans.
