Britain and Prussia sign the Treaty of Charlottenburg. This arranges for George I's grandson to marry a Prussian princess and Prince Frederick of Prussia to marry the Prince of Wales' daughter. It also plans for a military alliance that would combine the naval might of Britain with the land strength of the Prussian armies. However, subsequent difficulties meant that this treaty was never enacted.
