Russia takes the Persian cities of Baku and Derbent, on the Caspian Sea. The Persian forces are unable to prevent this, because they are currently pre-occupied with an Afghan invasion by Mir Mahmud, who by the end of the month has secured his position as the new Shah of Persia.
