Louis XIV rejects the peace conditions proposed to him by the Allies (Britain, Holland, Empire, Portugal, Savoy and elements of the Spanish). He had agreed to give up all his Spanish territories, and to supply money to aid the expulsion of Philip V from Spain. However, the Allies now demand the humiliating condition that Louis use his own army to dethrone his own grandson Philip, which he is not prepared to accept, leading to the resumption of warfare.
