The Peace of Altranstadt is signed between Charles XII of Sweden and Augustus the Strong of Saxony, which is favourable to Sweden. Augustus is forced to renounce the Polish throne, recognising the claim of Stanislaus Lesczcynski, the pro-Swedish nominee to the throne, and also renounce his allegiance with Russia.
