The “Third Reich” was the name the Nazis coined for their regime in Germany and its intended empire that lasted only from 1933 to 1945. Shaped by the National Socialist ideology, it has gone down in history as the epitome of an evil empire. National Socialism, among other things, espoused a leadership system that put all power ultimately in the hands of one man presumed to personify national interests. This Führer, Adolf Hitler, created an extremely popular dictatorship that exercised extensive control over the population through clever propaganda to manipulate the vast majority, and police terror to suppress and eliminate all opposition.
