Sweden and Brandenburg sign the Peace of St. Germain-en-Laye. In this agreement, Brandenburg gives up all of the conquests it had made in the recent Scanian war, returning Bremen-Verden and Swedish Pomerania. The only territory it is permitted to retain is a strip on the eastern bank of the River Oder. This led Brandeburg to make a secret alliance with France in the same year, according to which France was to respect its sovereignty.
