France signs a defensive alliance with Bavaria. By its terms, Louis XIV promises to provide a subsidy, and arranges a marriage between the Dauphin and the Elector's daughter. The treaty also agrees that if the Emperor Leopold I dies or the Spanish Empire is partitioned, France and Bavaria will act together.
