Holland and France sign the Peace of Breda with England. The latter power obtains Antigua, Monserrat, St Kitts, Cape Coast Castle and New Netherlands. France retains Acadia, while Holland retains Guiana and Surinam, but has to abandon her claim to New Amsterdam, which has now been named New York.
