The Peace of Oliva is signed through French mediation, ending war between Brandenburg, Poland, Austria and Sweden. Its terms recognise the Elector of Brandenburg's sovereignty in East Prussia, and force John Casimir II of Poland to renounce his claim to the Swedish throne and to Estonia and Livonia. Sweden and Poland recognise the sovereignty of Russia.
