In England, Charles I's third Parliament meets, sitting until March of the following year. It has been summoned by the King to vote funds for a second military expedition to aid the Huguenots at La Rochelle. This Parliament sees Oliver Cromwell enters the House of Commons for the first time, as MP for Huntingdon.
