The Duke of Buckingham instigates the impeachment of LioneI CranfieId, Earl of Middlesex, Lord Treasurer of England, on grounds of bribery and neglect of duty. On 25th April, Cranfield is fined £50 000 and suspended from office, and in December Lord Ley is appointed his successor.
