French Huguenots under the leadership of Rohan and Soubise hold an assembly at La Rochelle, in defiance of the laws of the realm. The recent re-establishment of Catholicism in Bearn has led them to fear fresh persecution, and they decide to rise in rebellion against Louis XIII.
