The Treaty of Angouleme ends the conflict between Louis XIII and his mother, Marie de' Medici. Through the diplomacy of Richelieu, Louis agrees to grant an amnesty to his mother's supporters and restores the territory that he captured. To secure his own political position, Richelieu arranges a marriage between his niece and the nephew of the Duke de Luynes.
