The Jesuit missionary Edmund Campion is seized by the authorities. With fellow Jesuit Robert Parsons, he had come to England from William Allen's college at Douai, with the aim of converting people back to the Catholic faith. He subsequently defends his position in disputations, is tried for treason and is executed on 1st December.
