James VI of Scotland signs the Second Confession of Faith, an updated version of the document signed by the Lords of the Covenant in 1560. It responds to the recent attempts on the part of Roman Catholics to regain power in Scotland by explicitly denouncing the Pope and his Church's doctrines.
