In France, the sixth civil war of religion is ended by the Peace of Bergerac. The Huguenot minority secures important concessions for exercising their religion, and a town in each district is ceded to them, but this does mean that they are disallowed from practising their religion anywhere else. They retain nine strongholds and representation in four provincial assemblies. The resultant peace of peace lasts two years, but is brought to an end by Conde's seizure of the town of La Fere in November 1579.
