The English Parliament meets. A group of Puritan MPs attempt to promote a radical reform of the Church of England. However, this fails, and their leader, Peter Wentworth, is imprisoned in the Tower. He had attacked the Queen for interfering with the right of the House of Commons to freedom of speech.
