Counts Egmont and Hoorn, who protested against the imposition of the Inquisition in the Netherlands, are pronounced guilty of high treason and, on 6th February, are beheaded in Brussels. Their deaths fuelled rebellious protests and helped spark the Revolt of the Netherlands.
