The Huguenot minority in France are officially recognised when Chancellor Michel de l'Hopital promulgates the Edict of St. Germain. However, the militantly Catholic Duke of Guise, Cardinal of Lorraine and Montmorency form an aggressive league to prevent the edict from being enforced.
