French Catholics and Protestants meet at the Poissy Conference, organised by the Regent and Queen Mother Catherine de' Medici, Chancellor Michel de l'Hopital and Anthony of Navarre, in an attempt to come to a religious reconciliation. Theodore Beza from Geneva voiced the Reformed opinion, while the Cardinal of Lorraine expressed the Catholic position.
