A Huguenot conspiracy which planned to march on the castle at Amboise and seize Francis II from the Guise noblemen who currently dominate the young king fails in its attempt. The rebels are brutally massacred and their leader, the Prince of Condé, is subsequently imprisoned by the Duke of Guise.
