In October, following a secret treaty, Emperor Charles V had formally re-assigned the electorate of Saxony from John Frederick to Duke Maurice. Now, however, John Frederick uses military force to regain his Ernestine Saxon lands, and invades the Albertine lands of Duke Maurice.
