Queen Katherine Howard is executed. Her marriage to Henry VIII was arranged by her uncle the Duke of Norfolk, the King's chief minister, but she was only 16 to Henry's 42 years at the time of her marriage, and was indiscreet in her behaviour to other courtiers. In November 1541 she had been sent to the Tower of London, charged with infidelity, considered a high treason.
