Henry VIII's chief minister Thomas Cromwell is arrested at the Council table, and charged with treason for having advocated the King's marriage to Anne of Cleves. He is duly executed on 28th July. Lord Treasurer Norfolk becomes The position of Henry VIII's principal minister is taken by the Duke of Norfolk, who attempts to secure his position by promoting his niece Katherine Howard as a new wife for the King.
