The passing of the Act of the Six Articles reaffirms many central Catholic doctrines and practices, insisting on clerical celibacy and asserting the miracle of transubstantiation. Nicholas Shaxton, Bishop of Salisbury, and Hugh Latimer, Bishop of Worcester, speak out against the the conservatism of these articles, and thus both resign their sees.
