In the wake of the new pact signed between Hapsburg and Valois at Toledo, Henry VIII fears an invasion of England and orders his subjects to undertake defence preparations. By May, this invasion scare has evaporated, since Francis I will not act without the Emperor, and the latter's difficulties in Germany are incrementally increasing with the establishment of Protestantism in Saxony and Brandenburg.
