Archbishop Cranmer opens a court of enquiry at Dunstable into the marriage of Catherine of Aragon to Henry VIII. On 23rd April, he declares her marriage with Henry to be void, leaving the King free to marry again and Catherine in an anomalous and vulnerable legal position.
