The Swiss canton of Zurich is forced to confirm the terms of the Peace of Kappel, by which the second civil war of religion has been officially ended. This Peace allows each canton and each district to have the right to worship as they choose, resulting in a Confederation divided into Protestant areas (including Zurich, Berne, Geneva and Basle) and Catholic ones (including Lucerne, Zug and Freiburg).
