Despite having now proclaimed himself Supreme Head of the Church in England, Henry VIII still desires papal sanction of his planned divorce from Catherine of Aragon. To this end, he sends bishops Stephen Gardiner and Edmund Bonner to press his case with Pope Clement VII.
