Parliament recognises Henry VIII as Supreme Head of the Church in England. Archbishop Warham leads the English clergy in a plea to be pardoned for the offence of praemunire, namely placing the Pope's authority above that of the King. They are forced to pay Henry a fine totalling £118,840.
