Encouraged by Charles V, nephew to Catherine of Aragon, Pope Clement VII issues a bull forbidding any ecclesiastical judges and lawyers from speaking or writing on the question of Henry VIII's marriage. He moreover frustrates Henry's desires for a swift decision in the case, by suspending court proceedings until September.
