Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, is appointed Lord President of the Council, a post he is to hold until his death in 1545. He had been out of favour with the King after his secret and unsanctioned marriage to Henry's sister Mary Tudor in 1515, but by the time of his appointment as Lord President, he had been thoroughly reconciled with the King.
