Switzerland sees a dispute over the election of the Abbot of St Gallen, in a town which had converted to Protestantism while the Abbey had remained Catholic. The canton of Zurich, encouraged by reforming leader Ulrich Zwingli, uses this as an opportunity to declare war on the Catholic Forest Cantons.
