In Sweden, the Diet of Vasteras gives in to Gustavas Vasa's insistence, and agrees to carry out a religious Reformation and embrace the new faith of Lutheranism. Vasa's enthusiasm for this transformation owes a lot to political considerations, since it enables him to gain control over the Church as well as much of its property.
