Von Sickingen's castle at Landstuhl is stormed by the joint forces of the Elector Palatine, the Landgrave of Hesse and the Archbishop of Trier, in the War of the German Knights. In the course of the fighting, the alliance of Lutheran knights is defeated, as Franz von Sickingen is killed and Ulrich von Hutten goes into exile, ultimately dying in Zurich.
