The unpopular Duke Ulrich of Wurttemburg attacks the free city of Reutlingen, defying his nobility. The Swabian League, under Franz von Sickingen, intervenes to rescue Reutlingen, and in the process drives Ulrich out of his duchy. Wurttemburg is then sold by the League to Charles V, coming under imperial control.
