Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian and Francis I sign the Peace of Brussels. Maximilian agrees to the terms of the Franco-Spanish Peace of Noyon (signed by the two powers in August). He gives up his territorial claims in Italy in exchange for a payment of 200,000 ducats, and, in contradiction of the treaty he had only two months previously signed with England, hands over Verona to Venice.
