A rising breaks out in Cornwall at Henry VII's demands for taxation to fund his war with Scotland, which the Cornish saw as violating the special tax privileges they had been granted by Edward I. Under the leadership of James Tutchet, Lord Audley, and a blacksmith known as An Gof, an army of 15,000 marched eastwards from Taunton through the southern counties to attack London.
