The island of Palma, in the Canary Islands, is added to Spanish territory. Conquistador Alfonso Fernandez de Lugo, who had previously fought in the conquest of Gran Canaria in 1478, attacked La Palma in the area of Tazacorte and managed to defeat the local Guanches chiefs.
