Stürgkh had dissolved Austria's provincial assembly in 1913,
adjourned the Austrian Reichsrat, and proceeded to govern by
decree, imposing an authoritarian regime on Austria. He was shot
and killed in 1916 by Socialist Friedrich Adler.
