Argentina, Brazil and Chile met in Niagara Falls, Canada, to mediate and prevent war between the United States and Mexico. The two countries had experienced increasing tensions after the Tampico Affair and the United States' occupation of Veracruz. Frederick William Lehmann and Joseph Rucker Lamar represented the U.S. at the conference.
